How a YC-Backed Language Learning App Rebuilt Organic Growth With SEO
Our client is a YC-backed language learning app helping people build practical language skills through an accessible, product-led learning experience. The app had a strong product, a clear market, and a large number of language-specific use cases to serve. But its organic growth had stalled. In some months, it was declining.
They needed an SEO system that could capture demand across every language, connect educational searches to the product’s key features, and build the authority required to compete in a crowded language-learning market. The goal was not more generic blog traffic. It was a durable acquisition channel built around users who were actively looking for ways to learn, practice, and improve in a specific language.
The Challenge
Before the engagement, the site had flatlined. The team had a valuable product, but they were not consistently showing up for the full range of searches that prospective learners used before choosing an app. Their existing organic footprint did not give them enough coverage across individual languages, learning needs, or product features
At their previous low point, the site was generating around 716 organic clicks per month. There was no compounding content engine behind the site, and the lack of authority made it difficult to gain and hold meaningful positions in search.
The client needed to reverse the plateau quickly. That meant creating a system that could expand their topical coverage without sacrificing relevance, give high-intent users a clear path to the product, and improve the site’s authority in parallel.
The Strategy
We built a full-funnel SEO strategy around the way people actually search for language-learning help.
First, we created blog content to support each priority language. This covered both middle-of-funnel searches, where users were researching how to learn or improve a language, and bottom-of-funnel searches, where users were closer to choosing a tool or method. Each cluster was designed to build topical authority around a specific language while directing qualified readers toward the product.
Second, we built landing pages around the app’s key features. These pages gave the site a direct answer for feature-specific searches and made sure the product was represented wherever user intent was closest to conversion.
We then deployed an aggressive programmatic SEO strategy. The goal was to build relevant search coverage at scale across language combinations, learning contexts, and related queries that a traditional blog calendar could not efficiently cover. Programmatic pages expanded the site’s surface area in search, while the supporting blog and landing-page content reinforced topical depth and conversion intent.
Finally, we paired the content work with high-quality backlink building. In just three to four months, we improved the site’s Domain Rating by 10 points, strengthening the authority signals needed for the new pages to rank and hold their positions in a competitive category.
This was not content for content’s sake. Each component had a specific job: educational content captured and nurtured demand, feature pages converted high-intent searchers, programmatic SEO scaled relevant coverage, and backlinks made the entire system more competitive.
The Results

Within three months, we doubled organic traffic and moved the site out of its flat-to-declining period. The growth has continued from there, with monthly organic clicks now exceeding 15,000.
Based on the additional organic demand created and comparable language-learning subscription economics, this new acquisition channel represents an estimated $100K+ in annualized first-year subscription revenue. This is a modeled estimate tied to the organic-growth uplift, not client-reported revenue.
The Google Search Console data shows how quickly the visibility engine has accelerated. Over a six-month reporting window, the site generated 32.1K total clicks and 6.25M total impressions, with an average position of 7.6 . The same data shows substantial momentum in the most recent period, as daily clicks rose above 400.
Key metrics:
•2x increase in organic traffic within 3 months
•Growth from around 716 monthly organic clicks at the prior low point to 15,000+ monthly clicks
•$100K+ in estimated annualized first-year subscription revenue from the organic-growth uplift
•32.1K total clicks and 6.25M total impressions in the supplied six-month Search Console view
•789K impressions in Google’s Generative AI features during the supplied six-month view
The gains went beyond raw traffic. The site now has an organic footprint that maps to the product’s real market: individual languages, high-value learning problems, and feature-specific queries. That is what turns search from a collection of disconnected rankings into a repeatable acquisition channel with an estimated six-figure annualized revenue impact.
Future Growth Trajectory
The foundation is now in place for the growth to keep compounding. Every new language cluster increases the site’s relevance for adjacent searches. Every feature page improves the path from search intent to product adoption. And as the backlink profile strengthens, the app can compete for more valuable queries that previously would have been difficult to win.
The programmatic system gives the client a scalable way to keep expanding its coverage, while the supporting blog content ensures that growth is grounded in useful, high-quality resources for learners. The early visibility in Google’s Generative AI features also gives the app another discovery surface as language learners increasingly use AI-assisted search to find recommendations and answers.
The engagement transformed an organic channel that was flat and declining into a growing search engine for the product. We will continue expanding language coverage, strengthening authority, and turning more high-intent search demand into sustained organic growth.
